Designed for student-athletes of all skill levels who want comprehensive academic, athletic, and personal development.

PREVENTING SUMMER LEARNING LOSS

What is summer learning loss, and how does it affect my student-athlete?

• 2.6 Months of grade level equivalency in reading and mathematical skills are lost over the summer
• Equivalent of ONE month of overall learning is LOST after summer vacation
• SIX weeks in the fall are spent re-learning old material to make up for summer learning loss
• 2-3 hours per week during summer vacation is needed to prevent any vacation learning loss
• TWO Months of subject-focused learning is all it takes to improve specific learning skills
• By the end of Grade Six students who have experienced summer learning loss over the years are an average of 2 years behind their peers
• It can take up to 2 months from the first day of school for a students brain development to get back on
track

What we do to prevent summer learning loss:

Create a community of learning using a program geared specifically for student-athletes. Our student- athletes return to school in fall proud of their summer efforts and ready to learn.
